Dissecting in Science

Dissecting in Science

Recently in science, the 6th-8th graders have been studying biomes, and how organisms adapt to their environment. On Tuesday, February 19, we started an experiment. In our experiment, we had to dissect an owl pellet. Gross? Yes, I know. An owl pellet is the owl’s wastes that it can’t digest, but it comes from the owl’s mouth, his vomit. During this experiment, everyone got a pair of latex gloves and a pair of tweezers. We found numerous bones of rodents, moles, and birds. We then sorted the bones in a sorting chart. I learned that sometimes to learn, you might have to get a little dirty, but that’s ok!
